Welcome to the Morinville Citizens on Patrol web page. We are a unique and diverse group of committed volunteers dedicated to working towards a safe and crime-free community. We have been active for over 15 years.

Safety is paramount - C.O.P. volunteers NEVER BECOME INVOLVED IN AN INCIDENT. We only observe and report what we see.

What's New

Combating theft from vehicles in Morinville.

In December, 2009 C.O.P. volunteers launched an ongoing awareness campaign to help combat theft from vehicles. In addition to the regular patrols of the residential streets and alleys, business and industrial areas of Morinville, our volunteers are patrolling parking lots in Morinville looking for any vehicles that may be vulnerable to thieves.

Volunteers leave information sheets on each vehicle in a parking lot. These sheets will thank drivers who have taken steps to prevent vehicle crime and point out obvious problems to those who have not. The goal is to remind motorists to reduce the likelihood of their vehicle becoming a target of crime.

Check out the newspaper articles here.

SpeedWatch

Our SpeedWatch program is underway again this year. Our volunteers set up a radar based system clocking motorists' speed, particularly in school zones. The speed of each vehicle is displayed on a readout in bright red LED lights reminding drivers of their actual speed. Our goal is driver education and awareness leading to a safer community; COP volunteers cannot give out traffic tickets.
